Best Bible commentaries

This Bible commentary web site is designed to help Bible believing people better understand the Scriptures.  Sister web sites include www.abiblecommentary.com, a web site that offers several Bible commentaries.  There is also www.bumchecks.com, a web site that discusses 20 things to look for when selecting a Bible commentary.

Here at “commentary on the Bible” I list some of my favorite Bible commentaries.  As you can see from the links on the left, there is information about “one volume” Bible commentaries, Bible Dictionaries and Bible Encyclopedias, full sets of Bible commentaries, and information about Greek studies.

The Bible commentary and Bible study resources on this site are resources I have personally used.  Some of the books are obviously better than others and none of them are free from human bias or error.  Some of the Bible commentaries listed on this site are based on Bible translations such as the NIV (New International Version), a translation I do not recommend that people use.  Some of the other commentaries teach Premillennialism, a doctrine that says Jesus will one day “set up his kingdom” on the earth.  This doctrine cannot be correct because Jesus said His kingdom is “not of this world” (Jn. 18;36) and Paul said Jesus is coming to “deliver up” instead of “set up” the kingdom (1 Cor. 15:24).  Although some Bible commentaries claim Jesus will reign in the future, the Bible says Jesus is reigning now (Acts 2:30-35).

A good Bible commentary will help you study and perhaps apply God’s word to your life.  My hope and prayer is that you will find resources through my Bible commentary sites and serve God “in spirit and truth” (Jn. 4:24) instead of the “doctrines and commandments of men” (Mk. 7:7-8).  If you like my Bible commentary information you might also like to review my commentary on the subject of “New Testament Christianity.”
