Is Jesus man’s only savior?

1.    Jesus asked a seemingly simple question in Mt. 16:13.
2.    This verse says Jesus asked the disciples “who” people thought He was.

JESUS QUESTION IS ONE THAT WE CAN STILL ASK OURSELVES TODAY:  WHO DO WE THINK JESUS WAS AND IS?

a)    Some have suggested that Jesus is only a myth, but this is not an informed conclusion.
b)    Josephus is a well known historian who was not exactly friendly to the Jesus of Nazareth.
c)    Josephus mentioned the Lord as did some Roman historians.
2)    If we accept that the Lord lived, then He lived His life in one of two basic ways.
a)    Either Jesus pursued a life associated with righteousness or a life associated with sin.
b)    Some claimed that Jesus pursued a life of sin.

3)    Let’s back up just one verse to verse 18 – READ
4)    There is no evidence to believe Jesus was an evil or unrighteous man.
5)    Here is what Luke recorded for us – Acts 10:38 – READ
6)    Jesus was a “good man,” but was He “only a man?”
7)    To this question some say “no.”
8)    Some say Jesus was the “first created” based on Col. 1:15.
9)    This view is refuted by Col. 1:16; Jesus created “all things.”
10)    If Jesus created “all things,” it seems clear He is not an angel.
11)    Some have claimed Jesus is an angel – perhaps the highest angel, but this idea is also wrong.
12)    Angels do not accept worship (Rev. 22:8-9), but Jesus did accept worship (Mt. 8:2).
13)    Another view of Jesus is that He was a great prophet, perhaps the greatest prophet of all time.

SINCE WE HAVE LOOKED AT SOME FALSE VIEWS ABOUT JESUS PLUS TAKEN A TRUE GLIMPSE OF WHO HE IS, LET’S FURTHER EXPLORE THE LORD’S TRUE NATURE.

a)    In Heb. 2:10 Jesus is called the “author” of salvation.
b)    The word “author” carries with it three distinct ideas.
c)    First, there is the idea of “captain” or “leader.”
d)    A second idea found in the word “author” is “pioneer” or “path breaker.”
e)    The third idea behind “author” is “source, founder, author.”
f)    This third aspect of the word means Jesus is the “source” of salvation.

3)    Jesus was correctly identified as the “Holy One of God.”
4)    Jesus is the one who came to this earth as God in the flesh, Jn. 1:1 14.

SINCE WE HAVE AN IDEA OF WHO JESUS IS AND IS NOT, WE ARE FACED WITH THIS QUESTION:  WHAT WILL WE DO WITH HIM?

a)    The Bible says there are 3 basic choices when it comes to the Lord.
2)    Here is what we find in Rev. 3:15-16 – READ   Are we “cold,” “lukewarm,” or “hot”?

3) Jesus Christ is man’s only savior. Have we been saved from sin by Jesus Christ? Have we contacted the benefits of Jesus’ saving blood?
