So, back in May, he hired three men to take sledgehammers and pound the Maserati Quattroporte to pieces. The repair work which instigated this scene of destruction was $390 but the company used second-hand parts and the owner was upset. This gentleman is not alone in his foolishness. A couple of years ago, a Chinese Lamborghini owner did a similar thing to his car.
Most of us would not do that. However, many of us are doing something far worse. The apostle Peter wrote: “Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul” (1 Peter 2:11). We are destroying our soul by pounding it with behaviors that “wage war” against the soul. I’ll give you just two examples.
We are destroying our minds when we fill it with denominational material. It’s one thing to read material; it’s another thing to devour it. When the denominational material we read overbalances the sound material we read, then we pick up denominational jargon and ideas.
We are destroying our sensitivity to godly morality when we watch TV and movies that are not fit for Christian consumption. We are desensitized to immodest clothing and behaviors. If our children or grandchildren watch, they decide it is okay to wear such clothing and dance like that. Pretty women wear such. Handsome men show off their chest – they reason. Then they decide that it is through provocative clothing and behavior that you draw and entice other women/men. Where does that end?

Eventually, we destroy our souls by engaging in sinful activity. Paul has a short list in Romans 13:13 – carousing, drunkenness, sexual promiscuity, sensuality, strife, and jealousy. There are larger lists than these in other places.
