Powerful Moments that Change Your Life Forever – Matthew 4:12-23
What are some moments that have changed your life forever? When I was in junior high school, my best friend in north Georgia had invited me to go to 4-H camp with him. I told him I would go to 4-H camp with him if he would go to Bible camp with me. He agreed but then did not follow through with his agreement.
However, I eventually went on to get even more involved in 4-H than he was. The 4-H club took me to Atlanta, GA to compete in a speech competition, which I did on snakes. The 4-H club took me to Chicago to compete in the area of conservation of natural resources. The 4-H club took me to Washington, DC to participate in a youth leadership conference. That only hits the high points of a four-year-involvement in the 4-H club. The 4-H club gave me numerous opportunities to speak publicly and to get lots of experience in developing speeches.
I might not be a preacher of the Gospel if I had not been invited to go to 4-H camp. Do you have events like that in your life? A moment in time that can change your life forever?
The moment we meet Jesus and fall in love with Him is one of those moments. In fact, it surely would rank as the most important moment in our lives.

In Matthew 4, Jesus calls Peter, Andrew, James and John to follow Him. Immediately, they left their nets and followed Him. That decision would change their lives forever. That decision would lead them to walk and live with Jesus for three years. It would lead them to witness the cross. It would lead them to witness the resurrection. It would lead them to experience the baptism of the Holy Spirit fifty days after the resurrection. It would lead each of them to suffer their own crucifixion for their preaching the resurrection of Christ.
When you meet Jesus, your life will be forever changed. It will be changed for the better but it will also change your center of reference. It changes your world view and your perspective on life. When you start focusing on Jesus, instead of yourself, it makes you humble and subservient to other people. It is a paradox that you receive more respect and more prestige and more esteem from other human beings when you are humble and subservient to them.
Meeting Jesus will change your life forever. Giving your life wholeheartedly to Him will change your life forever. Won’t you follow Him so He can make you a better person and make you prepared for eternity in heaven?
