2 CHAPTERS LATER WE FIND A STORY ABOUT SAUL AND THE AMALEKITES.

• 1n the next chapter (1 Sam. 16:14) we are told God’s Spirit left Saul and a bad spirit came.
• Having had the Spirit of God be replaced would have surely contributed to some ongoing pressure.
• Goliath shows up in 1 Sam. 17.
• The chapter after this (1 Sam. 18) describes how Saul was jealous of David – more pressure.
• The pressure in Saul’s life mounts to the point where he tries to take David’s life (1 Sam. 19).
• By the time of 1 Sam. 28, Saul consults a medium to communicate with the dead.

OUR WORLD HAS JUST AS MUCH PRESSURE (AND PERHAPS MORE IN SOME RESPECTS) THAN THE TIME OF SAUL.

1. As we live in such a society, the question becomes: how do we deal with it?
2. How do we teach our children to deal with pressure, much of which comes from peers?

• Our job is remember and apply God’s promise; the application can be the hard part.
• When pressure of some type comes, remember God’s promise: God will be with me.
• We need to do all we can in circumstances involving pressure and have faith in God’s deliverance.
• Sometimes that faith means the clock is going to get closer and closer to a deadline.
