We want freedom to choose our own course of action without interference from anyone – – even God!
People read in God’s Book about the importance of worship, Bible study, taking the Lord’s Supper, singing praises, giving, fellowship with the saints, etc., yet, in spite of God’s living word (Heb. 4:12), they will do these things only when it is convenient. When told these things must be done, they seem to rebel even more, saying with their actions, “Don’t tell me what to do!”

The point is this: the Son of God was obligated to do certain things to accomplish God’s will, else there would be no plan of salvation! Therefore, why would anyone think there is nothing we MUST do to secure our salvation with Jesus?
Many “religious” people have been taught that there is nothing they MUST do because Jesus paid it all. That’s true – – BUT for whom did He pay it all? If you’ll study your Bible, you’ll find the answer. It’s found in Hebrews 5:9, “He (Jesus) became the Author of Salvation to all WHO OBEY Him.” Yes! Jesus paid it all, but only for those who obey Him. Whether we want to hear it or not, still, WE MUST OBEY HIM IN ORDER TO BE SAVED.
