How Can I Keep Christ First?

If Satan can get us distracted – from serving our families and keeping them involved in church work, from being involved ourselves, from trying to share the Gospel with others – then he has won a battle. He may even win the war in our own lives if we allow ourselves to become distracted to the degree that the word, the seed, falls on rocky soil.

So, how can we keep Christ first?

P – PRAY

Pray that God will help you understand how He wants you to live, what your purpose is in life. If a greater job opportunity comes open, should you take it? Pray that God will open doors or close doors for you (Col. 4:2-4).

R – READ

Because the Holy Spirit guided the apostles into all truth (John 14:26) and the apostles wrote that truth down (Eph. 3:3-5), then we have all the truth God wants us to have in this book. This book will help us prioritize our lives (Prov. 16:3).

I – ITEMIZE

You may need to itemize your responsibilities and then list them in order. Then, you have to put them on some kind of schedule and prioritize: what you need to do, what you would like to do if you had time, what you can ask someone else to do, or what you simply cannot do at all.

O – OPEN YOUR HEART TO POSSIBILITIES

Sure, you may be on your way out the door to eat supper with your family at home and you have been working late because you had to but tonight, you do not have to. Yet, your co-worker, with whom you have been having some serious Bible discussions, has opened up the floor for a discussion on baptism. Do you go home to your family or stay late (one more time), for this Bible discussion? It seems that in this situation, you may need to stay late to engage in this Bible discussion.

So it was decided to use Sildenafil commander cialis for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. These devices draw blood into the genitals by putting negative generic viagra order pressure and are used exactly before the intercourse.

R – REFUSE

Learn to say, “No.” You may be the best at what you do. You may be the fastest. You may be the strongest. You may be the smartest. But you can’t do everything.

Jesus wanted to be king, didn’t He? Yet, when Satan offered Him the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them, Jesus said, “No” (Matt. 4:8-10). Because this did not fit with the Father’s plan for His life.

I – INVITE OTHERS INTO YOUR WORLD

In Colossians 4:5, Paul writes: “Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity.” Being evangelistic does not have to be something that we “turn on” or “turn off.” Sharing the Gospel, yes, should be done at the appropriate times. But, sharing the Gospel needs to have a foundation laid in interpersonal relationships.

T – TIME USED WISELY

Do not get so caught up dealing with the immediate that you can’t deal with the important. Too many times we live our lives in such a haphazard, careless, nondiscriminatory way that we wake up long after the alarm clock goes off, and we stay behind all day long. Because we are always behind, we get distracted by the immediate needs or demands of the office or classroom and then do not have time or energy for what is important.

Y – YOU CONTROL YOUR LIFE

“The mind of man plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps” (Prov. 16:9). We control our lives in a real way from the time we get up in the morning and what type of schedule we have to how we choose to use and live the rest of our day.
