• These two details sound a lot like Jesus Christ.
• In Jn. 6:38 Jesus said “I didn’t come from heaven to do My will; I came to do the Father’s will.
• iN the garden (Lk. 22:42) Jesus prayed, “not my will but thine be done.”
• David and Jesus had similarity in heart when it came to serving God. THUS FAR WE HAVE —
• A similarity in name, a similarity in family background, and a similar mindset.

• Is David’s occupation just a great coincidence, or does it also point forward to the Lord Jesus Christ?
• In Jn. 10 (verses 11, 14) Jesus said HE is the “good shepherd.”
• As a shepherd, David put himself in jeopardy.
• When talking about facing Goliath (1 Sam. 17:31-36), David said he had put his life in danger.
• What did Jesus do? Did the Lord also put His life in danger? —

# 5 – Acts 13 tells us David became king – got a big promotion.

• In Jn. 18:36 the Lord said, “MY KINGDOM is not of this world.”
• 19:16 -the Lord is KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS.

• A man by the name of Samuel anointed David as king, 1 Sam. 16:13; Spirit came on him. Acts 10:38.
• David was able to reign as king of Israel for 40 years (1 Kgs. 2:11).
• The Lord has reigned for 40 years as well, but 40 years did not end His reign – continual. Lk. 1:33 ASV
• One of the very interesting texts about David is 2 Sam. 3:18.
• Jesus a “conqueror over all”?
• Point 10 involves citizens in the kingdom.
