It is a great honor, privilege, and responsibility to carry the name of Christ and we each, if we take our Christianity seriously, live our best so as to honor that name we carry.
But no one can create a ritual or series of rituals, even if they use biblical descriptions for that ritual(s), and then honestly claim to be a “Christian.” There is only one person who can define what a “Christian” is and who a Christian is, and that is Christ Himself.
Man cannot say, “I will have water thrown on my head, and then I’ll be a Christian.” Man cannot say, “I’ll dunk my baby under water, who does not know Christ and has never committed an act of sin, and then my baby will be a Christian.” Man cannot say, “I’ll bow before the altar at church and say a prayer and ask Jesus to be my Savior, and then I’ll be a Christian.”

Let me repeat myself: man cannot create a ritual and then claim that, having fulfilled those rituals, he / she is a Christian. Satan has confused many “believers” today into thinking that he / she is a Christian and such a person, without submitting their beliefs to the clear teaching of Scripture, have gullibly accepted Satan’s confusion.
Jesus defines a Christian as one who is convicted that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God (John 8:24). Jesus defines a Christian as one who has quit living for self and decided to live for God (2 Cor. 5:15). Jesus defines a Christian as one who consistently confesses his or her faith in Christ on a daily basis (Matt. 10:32-33). Jesus defines a Christian as one who has been immersed (Col. 2:11-12) into water (Acts 10:47), for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38), understanding that this act unites the penitent believer with the blood of Christ (Rom. 6:3-4; Acts 22:16).
Someone who is led by the Word of God will not be gullible (Eph. 4:11-14). You don’t have to be confused. Don’t listen to men. Read the Scriptures.
