Questions for Christians

I’ve often mused that if there were a place that wasn’t as bad as hell and that didn’t have the requirements of heaven, that many Christians would likely opt to go there. That sentiment comes from the realization that while many, even brethren, profess a love of Christ, there are far fewer who partake in the things we’ve been given to do and to be. Consider the following scriptures and questions:

• 1Jn 4:20-21 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

If we don’t love the brethren on the earth, will we enjoy being around them in eternity?

• Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

If we choose not to gather with the saints for a short time here, will we want to be in a place where only the saints are gathered?

• Lk 16:10-11 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

If we aren’t good stewards of the things we possess, how can we be given true riches?

If we don’t serve God now, what would make God think we would serve him for eternity?

• Jn 4:23-24 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

If we don’t enjoy worshiping God or aren’t willing to do that now, why would we want to do that in Heaven?

• 1Cor 6:1-2 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

If we aren’t comfortable making judgments about earthly matters, how will we be prepared for our job in the world to come?

Let’s do those things we have been called to do on this earth that we may be prepared for the place that is prepared for us.
