Sermon on two kingdoms

1. Mt. 12:22 – READ
2. Three things stand out in this verse: a man was “blind” (without sight), “dumb” (could not speak), and demon possessed.
3. Satan wants to bind and destroy man; Jesus Christ wants to free and redeem man.
4. Verse 24 – READ
THE PHARISEES WERE SO TROUBLED BY WHAT JESUS HAD DONE THEY ACCUSED HIM OF PERFORMING THESE MIRACLES BY SATAN’S POWER. VERSES 25-26 – READ
1) Today we want to think about a “divided kingdom” from two perspectives, the first being Satan’s kingdom.
2) The Bible says Satan has a kingdom. .
3) The New Testament offers several descriptions of Satan’s kingdom.
a) In Col. 1:13 Paul said the devil’s kingdom is a place of “power.”
4) Jn. 12:31 tells us where Satan’s dark and powerful kingdom is located. READ.
5) Jesus called the devil the “prince” of our world.
6) 2 Cor. 4:4.
7) The latter part of 2 Cor. 4:4 says Satan seeks to “blind” the minds of people.
8) 1 Jn. 5:19 – READ
9) In Gal. 1:4 Paul said our “present world” is “evil.”
10) Satan has a worldwide kingdom and for the most part it is a united kingdom.
11) Rom 6:16
12) The devil wants us to be part of his kingdom and he will let us think, believe, and do whatever we want.

GOD’S KINGDOM.

a) In verse 28 of Mt. 12 we read about a second kingdom we can be part of – the kingdom of God.
b) In some respects the kingdom of God is similar to the devil’s kingdom.
2) The evil kingdom of this world is led by a powerful leader (Satan).

4) In Mt. 13 Jesus compared His kingdom to a mustard seed.

a) God’s unity is a lot different from the devil’s unity.
b) Satan basically says people can believe and do whatever they want with one exception:

6) While Satan’s kingdom is open to all kinds of things, God’s kingdom is an exclusive place.
a) We see this exclusiveness in places like Eph. 4:4-5.
b) The devil is not concerned about which body we are in unless it is the one body of Eph. 4.
c) He would be fine with us following a spirit unless it is the One Spirit in Eph. 4.
d) He does not mind if people have hope, as long as it is not the one hope of Eph.4.
e) He lets people have lords as long as it is not the One Lord of Eph. 4.
f) He will not object to faith unless we chose to cling to the one faith of Eph. 4.
g) He is unconcerned about baptism unless we want to be immersed with the one baptism in Eph. 4.
7) God’s kingdom is exclusive because it has a definite set of beliefs and practices.
8) When it comes to the devil’s kingdom, people can gain access to it in all kinds of ways.
a) Jn. 14:6 speaks about having access to the Father and by implication the kingdom associated with Him.
b) Jn. 1:16 says, “we all received grace for grace.”
9) In 1 Cor. 10:17 Paul said, “we are many,” but we are also “one.”
10) There is “one spirit” (body of teaching) that has caused us all to be baptized into Christ (1 Cor.12:13).
11) As members of God’s kingdom, we “all stumble” (Jas. 3:2).
12) Are we in the kingdom of Christ, or are we in the kingdom of Jesus’ adversary the devil?
