Why Blame God?
Isn’t it interesting who people choose to blame in times of trial? Seldom do you hear someone blame themselves for evil they brought upon themselves, and even less seldom do you here of someone blaming the devil! More often, unfortunately, we hear of God being blamed.
This is somewhat ironic given the fact that “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights” (James 1:17). There is no evil in God. To the contrary, John says that “God is love” (1 Jn. 4:8).
In regards to all that Job suffered, chapter 1:22 of the book bearing his name, states: “In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong.” Interestingly, the NASV says, “Through all this Job did not sin nor did he blame God.”

When evil comes our way, here are two things to consider:
1. We should use it as a time of self-reflection. Did we cause evil to come upon ourselves through unwise decisions and actions that are contrary to genuine Christian conduct? Remember, the Bible teaches we will reap what we sow (Gal. 6:8).
2. We should also realize that every evil thing comes not from God, but from Satan! When evil comes our way, we should use that as a reminder of the power and the destructive forces of Satan. Why not use the trials of life to repel us further from Satan and lead us closer to the God of our salvation?
