The impression has been left in this day and age that the Bible is an old folks’ book. We have led our young people to think that they need a math book, a science book, an English book, but not the book of books. But in Matt 16:26, Jesus said, “For what is a man profited is he shall gain the whole world, but lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”
Older people have: age, experience, wisdom, experience from heartaches and disappointments, and a more serious outlook on life. These are advantages that young people lack. So where do our young people stand?
YOUNG PEOPLE NEED THE BIBLE BECAUSE IT IS THE BOOK OF BOOKS:
Life, if it can be called life, without the Bible it is only an existence.
There are things that are right because they are in the Bible.
Baptism is right because it is in the Bible. If the Bible did not teach baptism it would be nothing more than getting wet. But it is in the Bible and it is a positive commandment.
Some things would be right without the Bible mentioning them. They are in the Bible because they are right. The Bible warns against drinking (Prov. 23:29-35). This would be true if the Bible did not mention it. There are countless, thousands of alcoholics in the US. Each one fits the description given by Solomon.
The Bible is the story of sin and redemption. But the story of sin and redemption would not be complete without young people. For instance:
Abraham would not be complete without Isaac (Gen. 22).
Jacob’s place in the line would not be complete without Joseph (Gen. 37).
Jonathan and David are selected by God to show friendship at its best (1 Sam. 18:1; 23:16).
The story of David against Goliath is an example of a young person with faith and courage at its best.
David was a young man called on to do a man’s job in 1 Sam. 17:22 ff.
David demonstrated that it pays to be obedient to parents. He was where his father sent him. He would have missed the opportunity if he had disobeyed his father.
David demonstrated that he was submissive to authority. In Romans 1:30 we see disobedience to parents listed along with many other evils.
YOUNG PEOPLE NEED THE BIBLE TODAY TO ENABLE THEM TO BECOME WISE WITHOUT BECOMING FOOLS:
“The fool has said in his heart, there is no God” (Psa. 14:1).
If a person is facing some heart disease, has under gone some heart surgery in the past, even if it means tweaking what discount cialis he does best – a significant change of tone since his injury-plagued sophomore season. An online drug store can furnish you with a simple internet search in your viagra on line pdxcommercial.com favorite engine. At times, it is also cialis properien known as impotence. What is tadalafil ED pill? Buy Tadalafil online is a wellbeing related issue, it should be given cheapest cialis the best treatment for correction.
Pressure is on young people to obtain an education but most of it is education without God.
Education without God does not bring wisdom; it only produces fools.
Proverbs 1:5 – “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:”
YOUNG PEOPLE NEED THE BIBLE SO THAT THEY WILL BE ABLE TO HOLD DOWN A JOB INSTEAD OF A JOB HOLDING THEM DOWN:
There is so much emphasis placed on material things today that there is a grave danger that the soul will be forgotten in this mad rush.
Multitudes have no time for God or their soul today because their jobs are holding them down. The Bible will enable young people to put first the kingdom of God (Matt. 6:33).
YOUNG PEOPLE NEED THE BIBLE TO ENABLE THEM TO LIVE IN THE WORLD RATHER THAN THE WORLD LIVING IN THEM:
The Bible is the only book that can fill the vacuum within to keep the world out. The inside is not going to stay empty long. It will be filled with something. David said, “Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee” (Psa. 119:11; cf. Matt. 12:43-45).
CONCLUSION:
The Bible does not fail to compliment young people. God knew the problems of young people and has offered the answer to their solution (1 John 2:14). The only armor that is sufficient to win the battle is that which is provided in the Bible. Nothing else will take its place. Any substitute will mean ruin and defeat.
