Invitation to Cross the DMZ
A “demilitarized zone” is a boundary between two military powers in which, through mutual agreement, there is no military activity. Probably the most popular demilitarized zone is that separating North Korea from South Korea, running along the 38th parallel cutting the peninsula roughly in half.
From July 21st to July 24th, South Korea was bombarded with 15,000 leaflets dropped by the North Koreans. What did the Communist North Koreans want to share with the democratic South Korean families? They were urging them to defect! Really? Their per capita income is $150 a month. Their GDP is $28 billion (if that can be trusted). Per capita income in South Korea is $1,730 a month. South Korea’s GDP is $1.459 trillion.
Who in his or her right mind would leave South Korea to live in North Korea?

The Devil is constantly urging us to cross our spiritual DMZ into his “land of freedom.” Do what you want! In this land of liberty, you have the right to do what you want to do. It doesn’t matter what other people think. Who care what your husband thinks! Who cares how your wife feels! Who cares what impact it has on your children! Self first. Me. Me. Me.
But, it doesn’t take long for freedom to pursue your own passions to turn in to slavery to your passions. We might sin occasionally as Christians but our Bible-educated, Christ-guided conscience pulls us back. Without that divine help, the occasional sin turns into slavery to sin.
“Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness” (Romans 6:16-18).
Walk with Christ and do not be deceived by the Devil’s advertisements and propaganda. Peter tells us in 2 Peter 2:22 that the “north” (spiritually) is just vomit and mud.
