When God created all things, including this world, it was perfect. There were no cancers, no heart attacks, no wars, and no school children being murdered in cold blood.
After He created man though, that began to change. With the man’s creation in His own image, God gave him the freedom of choice and dominion over all the earth. From that point, things began to go down hill. Unless something interferes with His eternal purpose (the church, Ephesians 3:10-11), God has chosen not to intervene with man’s freedom of choice.
With the recent events at Newtown, Connecticut, I’ve been asked, “How could God allow this to happen?!” The question points a blaming finger at God, that is, “It’s God’s fault those little children were murdered because He could’ve prevented it.” Certainly, God could have prevented it, but remember, He has chosen not to interfere with man’s freedom of choice, even retarded men!
Not long after Jesus was born, all the baby boys in Bethlehem under two years of age were slaughtered in an attempt to kill the baby Jesus. God could have prevented those deaths also, but didn’t. However, He intervened and saved Jesus from Herod’s sword because it would have interfered with His eternal purpose (Jesus’ establishment of His church).
