President Franklin Roosevelt told a speechwriter one time, “When the chief justice read me the oath and came to the words, ‘support the Constitution of the United States,’ I felt like saying, ‘Yes, but it’s the Constitution as I understand it, flexible enough to meet any new problem of democracy – not the kind of Constitution your court has raised up as a barrier to progress and democracy.”
President Roosevelt’s ideological daughter is apparently sitting on that very Supreme Court. In an interview with Al Hayat TV in Egypt, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg commented, “I would not look to the United States Constitution if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012.” She suggested South Africa, Canada and Europe were better models (World, February 25, 2012, pg. 16).
Mankind has long rebelled against authority and external controls. Adam was the first. Moses was not immune. Nadab and Abihu lost their lives, as did Uzzah. When it comes to Christianity and the final revelation from Jesus Christ recorded in the New Testament, many still want to throw off the authority of the Scriptures to follow their own path.
Baptism is still for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38). Vocal singing is still the only authorized form of music in worship (Ephesians 5:19). Divorce and remarriage only in the case when the spouse is guilty of sexual immorality is still Christ’s law (Matthew 19:9). Man still doesn’t have the right to alter anything written in the New Testament (Galatians 1:6-9). Religious divisions are still sinful (1 Corinthians 1:10). It is still sinful for women to preach (1 Timothy 2:11-15). Homosexuality is still sinful (Romans 1:26-27).

Like Justice Ginsburg, when someone wants to start a new church, they don’t go back to the New Testament. They look elsewhere.
Jesus promised plagues and the removal of one’s name out of the book of life if he (or she) changes His message (Revelation 22:18-19). That’s worse than changing the Constitution.
